"PANIM taught me how interconnected Judaism and politics are. You cannot be a Jew without trying to heal the problems of our world. You cannot be politically active without struggling with Jewish values." - Julia Greenberg PeP alumnus Chicago, IL

2008 Award Winner
On May 18, 2008 PANIM presented its tenth annual Young Jewish Activist Award to PANIM alumnus, Ben Simon of Takoma Park, Maryland. As part of the process of selecting the recipient, we heard from many of you telling us about the exciting work you are doing in your communities. It was a difficult decision to give just one award.
Each year, more than 1,000 American Jewish high school students leave their PANIM youth leadership seminar in D.C. empowered and inspired to
make the world a better place - will you?
Thanks to a generous grant from the Small-Alper Foundation, PANIM is pleased to be able to offer incentive grants to six students this year to encourage engagement in community service and activism after they return home from a PANIM program.
A Small-Alper Grant Awardee will:
Create an interesting and noteworthy service or advocacy project in their home community that was inspired by a recent PANIM seminar experience.
Receive a $500 incentive grant to facilitate in the creation of this project.
Be featured in PANIM's newsletter, FACES, allowing us to publicize your good works with thousands of fellow alumni and PANIM supporters around the country.
