Join educators from around the country in a week-long training designed to prepare you to create and teach Jewish service-learning programs in your community.

Best Practices
• What works in formal education? informal education? family education?
• How can institutions best reach out to teens? children? adults?
• What are the elements of the most successful service-learning programs in the country?

Jewish Text Study
• Learn the top 10 texts that every Jewish service-learning professional should have at his/her fingertips
• Discover how to make Jewish values come alive through service.
• Explore how Judaism can inspire deep engagement with social problems around the world.

National Experts
• Hear from leaders in the fields of service-learning, Jewish education, and civic engagement.

Explore Washington, DC

CEU's: There will be approximately 30 hours of instruction over the five days. Participants may receive 3 Continuing Education Units from the University of Maryland.

Tuition: Institute tuition is $835. The tuition includes housing and all meals except for one dinner. Please see the Tuition and Scholarship document for more information.

Location: All participants will be housed in College Park, MD home to the university's main campus. Classes and workshops will take place at UMD's Meyerhoff Center for Jewish Studies. Participants will also benefit from being in the Washington, DC area by meeting with local experts, educators, and officials.
